The project began with the writing and production of the CD Whatever It Takes (2 Motivate 2-Daze Youth). The CD consists of rhymes I have written and used in talks to teens around the country and in different parts of the world.

The Book, is the second of a four-part project aimed at harnessing some of the power and energy of Hip Hop and using it to help motivate youngsters (who are not otherwise motivated) aspire to higher levels of academic and social achievement. It includes the original versions of the rhymes that were adapted to music for the CD.

The Teacher's Guide is designed to stimulate thinking about how to use the other parts of this project to motivate and teach students who are at risk of academic and social failure.
